With the introduction of electric vehicles (EVs) and hybrid cars, the need for traction motors increases. The traction motor, which acts as the “heart” of a car in the absence of an engine, must adhere to a number of requirements, including having an excellent torque characteristic (which affects the performance of the car), being efficient to make the vehicle run for a long time, being quiet, compact, and light, having excellent reliability, and being straightforward to maintain. The standards for motor quality are also rapidly increasing at the same time.
The traction motor for electric vehicles (EVs) is fitted on fully hybrid and battery-electric cars (BEVs). BEVs and Hybrid Electric Vehicles (HEVs) are rapidly expanding in the global auto industry thanks to their zero emissions and excellent fuel efficiency at continually declining prices.
The Taiwan EV traction motor market accounted for $XX Billion in 2021 and is anticipated to reach $XX Billion by 2026, registering a CAGR of XX% from 2022 to 2027.
Two new traction motor system models from Nidec have been released: a 50 kW model for the A sector and a 200 kW model for the D and E segments. Both variants are built on the 150 kW E-Axle from Nidec.
The 200 kW variant has a motor and gearing that boost the system’s output by more than 30%. The 95 kg (209.5 lbs) overall weight is just nine per cent more than the 87 kg (150 kW) variant.
The 50 kW variant is intended for use with microcars and Japanese Kei cars. It is coaxial in design and smaller than usual (540 mm wide, 300 mm high, and 330 mm deep).
