ELECTRICALLY CONDUCTIVE SILICONE ADHESIVE MARKET
INTRODUCTION
Products that are electrically conductive are mostly used in electronics where components need to be held in place and electrical current can flow between them.
The majority of general adhesives, such as anaerobics, cyanoacrylates, epoxies, and acrylic-based adhesives, act as an electrical insulator depending on the gap between components.
In order to aid in the thermal management of electronic components and heat sinks, some provide enhanced thermal conductivity, directing heat away from delicate components.
Electrical charge can still be transferred because there is sufficient metal-to-metal contact still occurring because there is no glue line control in many instances, particularly when using an anaerobic or cyanoacrylate adhesive, and effectively parts are touching (with adhesives filling in microscopic crevices).
One-part, curing silicone caulk at room temperature makes electrically conductive silicone-based adhesives. The electrically conductive particles that make up the conductive silicone adhesives can be nickel-graphite, silver-plated glass, silver-plated nickel, silver-plated aluminum, silver-plated copper, or even pure silver. They are thixotropic, non-corrosive, and do not require mixing.
The conductive silicone-based adhesives, which are available in a variety of containers, are simple to apply and can be reused for a long time if properly stored.
The conductive silicone-based adhesives, which are available with a fluorosilicone elastomer binder, are suitable for use in applications involving fuels or oils. They can be used in consumer, military, or medical markets.
ELECTRICALLY CONDUCTIVE SILICONE ADHESIVE MARKET SIZE AND FORECAST
The Global Electrically Conductive Silicone Adhesive market accounted for $XX Billion in 2023 and is anticipated to reach $XX Billion by 2030, registering a CAGR of XX% from 2024 to 2030.
ELECTRICALLY CONDUCTIVE SILICONE ADHESIVE MARKET NEW PRODUCT LAUNCH
Henkel has developed a new portfolio of silicone-based electrically conductive adhesives (ECAs) with distinctive properties to address harsh environmental conditions in response to the emerging requirements of automotive sensor applications that require higher temperatures and vibrational energy.
The Loctite Ablestik ICP 4000 series of ECAs have the flexibility needed to deal with a lot of vibration and can operate at temperatures as high as 200 degrees Celsius.
For certain automotive sensor applications, older epoxy-based ECAs have traditionally been utilized.Epoxy systems, on the other hand, face difficulties in maintaining their long-term flexibility and conductivity as technology has advanced and sensor proximity to the engine block’s heat and vibration source has increased.
These difficulties are overcome by the materials of the Loctite Ablestik ICP 4000.
For a period of 1,000 to 1,500 cycles/hour, typical temperature, humidity, shock, and storage testing evaluates ECA performance.
However, the testing intervals for the Loctite Ablestik ICP 4000 series materials were increased by two.Even after 3,000 hours of testing at 85°C/85% relative humidity, 3,000 cycles of thermal shock analysis from -40 to 175 degrees Celsius, and 3,000 hours of heat storage at 175 degrees Celsius, the new silicone-based ECAs maintained their good performance.
These results demonstrate the ECAs’ capability not only during cycling but also during long-term field operation.
