    A coolant pump for pumping fluid via coolant flow field tubes in a fuel cell stack is part of a fuel cell cooling system. For causing a phase transition of the coolant inside the fuel cell stack, a pressure level must be maintained using a pressure control system.

The energy required to convert a liquid into a gas is substantially more than the liquid’s ability to transmit heat.

     

    As a result, the amount of coolant required to cool a stack is reduced, as is the amount of coolant that must be pumped through the system.
