    The FORTiS design offers great resistance to the intrusion of liquids and solid debris pollutants and is based on commercially successful RESOLUTE encoder technology.

     

    It has a longitudinally linked interlocking lip seal, sealed end caps, and an extruded enclosure. A blade that passes through the lip seals along the length of the encoder connects the red head body to a sealed optical unit.

     

    The redhead and optics travel along the linear axis without making mechanical contact with the encoder’s absolute scale, which is fixed to the interior of the container. Customers have two options for extrusion profiles to fit their needs for space. 

     

    The FORTiS-S linear encoder, which comes in measuring lengths of 140 mm to 3040 mm and is mounted directly to a machined surface via flexure holes in the extrusion’s body, is the standard-sized encoder.

     

    The FORTiS-NTM encoder has a narrower cross-section extrusion and a more compact readhead to permit installations in small areas. It is available with measuring lengths ranging from 70 mm to 2040 mm. Two end cap mounting holes on this model allow for direct attachment to a machined surface, or a mounting spar for further strength.
