A Collapsible Aircraft Auxiliary Fuel Tank that has folding stiff side walls, rigid top and bottom parts, and a non-vented fluid-impervious elastomeric bladder inside. The top, bottom, and side walls of the bladder deploy as fluid is pushed into it, creating a box-like structure whose hard walls shield the bladder.
The bladder contracts when the fluid is removed, folding the walls of the tank and causing it to fall into a smaller volume. The tank can be positioned on the exterior of the aircraft, and as fuel is used up, it contracts, reducing the frontal area of the aircraft and reducing drag.
The collapsible tank of this invention, when used in supersonic polymorphic aircraft, enables fuel to be carried in space left empty when the aircraft is in a slow-flight configuration, and the collapse of the tank when the fuel therein has been expended permits the volume thus left vacant to be utilized when the aircraft is put into its supersonic flight configuration.
The Global Collapsible Aircraft Auxiliary Fuel Tank market accounted for $XX Billion in 2022 and is anticipated to reach $XX Billion by 2030, registering a CAGR of XX% from 2023 to 2030.
If more fuel is needed to increase the operational range of the aircraft, it can be transferred from the Collapsible Aircraft Auxiliary Fuel Tank to the Main Fuel Tank. For maximum operational flexibility, the tank may be quickly removed after first installation and reinstalled. Other aircraft may have additional provisioning kits added in order to swiftly shift the tank.
DART currently provides compatibility kits to make the Auxiliary Fuel Tank compatible with DART Space Pods(p/n DSI 9562-01) or Airbus Squirrel Cheeks (p/n DSI 9599-011 – contact Sales for more information). *Instead of D130-794-021. Installs in the luggage compartment on the LH side. includes instructions for installation.
Compatible with Airbus Squirrel Cheeks but requires DSI 9599-011.DART Spacepod compatibility requires DSI 9562-011. Compatible with DART (Apical) floats and Integrated Flight Systems model 130-00-031. Not compatible with the installation of an artificial horizon standby battery. JCA/M47-1-01A at first. Each kit builds one aircraft.
