    Samsung launches high performance PCIe 4.0 NVMe SSD for demanding workflows, gaming.Samsung Electronics has unveiled a new high-speed SSD designed to boost computing and gaming performance in PCs and laptops. According to the business, the new PM9C1a SSD has higher performance, increased power economy, and enhanced security.

     

    The PM9C1a SSD features a new controller built on Samsung’s cutting-edge 5-nanometer (nm) process and seventh-generation V-NAND technology. The new SSD can read and write data at speeds of 6,000 megabytes per second (MB/s) and 5,600 MB/s, respectively, which are both 1.6 times faster than the previous storage option (PM9B1). Additionally, random read and write speeds can handle up to 900K and 1,000K IOPS, respectively, of input/output operations per second (IOPS).

     

    In order to protect against supply chain assaults, which are cyberattacks that target businesses by exploiting flaws in their supplier network, DICE produces cryptographic keys in the SSD in a secure manner. It also provides device attestation to stop any firmware manipulation.

     

    Additionally, it states that compared to PM9B1, PM9C1a will provide up to 70% greater power efficiency per watt. The new SSD would consume over 10% less power when in standby.

     

    The Trusted Computing Group (TCG), a global organisation that develops open standards for computing security, produced the Device Identifier Composition Engine (DICE) security standard, which the SSD supports for increased security.
