    The First 8 Megapixel Medical-Grade Image Sensors from OmniVision for Single-Use and Reusable Endoscopes are Launched. 

     

    The Nyxel near-infrared (NIR) technology from OmniVision is also used for the first time in a medical-grade image sensor with the new OH08B, giving the medical sector access to cutting-edge imaging capabilities that go beyond the visible spectrum.

     

    The medical-grade OH08A image sensor is designed for chip-on-tip endoscopes and has a 1/2.5-inch optical format, 1.4-m PureCel®Plus-S pixel technology, and 4K2K resolution in a tiny 7.1 x 4.6mm size.

     

    The OH08B utilises OmniVision’s Nyxel technology, which enables improved visualisation in the NIR spectral range, and has a 1/1.8-inch optical format. It also employs a bigger 2.0-m PureCel® pixel in an 8.9 x 6.3mm size.

     

    Their OH08A/B 8MP next-generation image sensors are intended for use with endoscopes with a 10–12 mm outer diameter, including gastroscopes, duodenoscopes, amnioscopy, laparoscopes, and colonoscopes.

     

    The doctor’s capacity to see the human anatomy during these crucial procedures is significantly improved by the increased image quality they give, up to 4K2K resolution at 60 fps.

     

    The OH08A uses OmniVision’s cutting-edge PureCel Plus-S stacked die technology, which allows for maximum functionality in the smallest feasible die size. With the use of this exclusive pixel technology, the sensor enhances image quality by lowering or eliminating fixed pattern noise. 

     

    It also offers a high full well capacity (increasing dynamic range), good low light sensitivity, zero blooming, and decreased power consumption.

     

    A clean, consistent image is produced because of the high frame rate of 60 fps, which reduces smearing. The OH08A provides real-time 4K video or high-definition 8MP Bayer still images.

     

    It has two-exposure staggered HDR compatibility and 4-cell three-exposure HDR with tone mapping for better HDR output at native 4K2Kp60 or 1080p60 resolution.
