    KEY FINDINGS

    • As of August 2021, there are over 30 ADAS technologies on offer across the globe. ABS, ESC and Rear-view cameras have almost reached saturation and the ADAS market growth in coming years will be driven by vision based technologies.
    • In U.S.,  a rear view camera is offered on all on- road vehicles mandatorily as an ADAS feature. Blind Spot Warning and Forward collision warning are the other most common features offered across OEMs
    • OEMs offer multiple ADAS features using same hardware depending on the position of the hardware i.e. camera and radar
    • Premium OEMs will try to implement self driving capabilities as soon as they develop them to increase brand and market value. Due to the marketability of ADAS features , existing features are being improved along both hardware and software to gain the upper hand
    • Lower light vehicle production levels globally has started to weigh on ADAS suppliers` balance sheets faster than  expected.  Continued weakness in Europe and China auto production, particularly in the Q1-2021, due to CoronaVirus concerns and chip shortage is a new threat to ADAS market.
    • Upcoming new product launches with inclusion of ADAS are an important growth driver in this declining auto production environment. Adoption of many new ADAS technologies is driven by the sharpening of the present EU NCAP requirements and much stricter 2025 legislation. It is significantly driving the list of comfort features and ADAS content per vehicle.
    • In September 2021, ZF launched the next generation 77 GHz mid-range radar with China’s Dongfeng Motor. It will combine the company’s S-Cam 4.8 camera for advanced driver assist on the 2021 Dongfeng Aeolus Yixuan MAX system
    • Continental sanctioned the construction of a new unit in New Braunfels, Texas. The primary motive of the new unit is to extend the capacity for the production of ADAS systems with radar sensors and cameras. The company also launched a new system solution for safer automated driving.
    • Hella has announced a strategic partnership with Oculii, a startup based in the US. The agreement is signed to develop high-performance scalable radar systems for semi as well as full autonomous vehicles.
    • Continental AG announced the launch of its new suite of hardware and software solutions. It will also include the launch of the company’s sixth generation radar sensors to make autonomous mobility more safe.

    ADAS MARKET RECENT LAUNCH

The Advanced Driver Assistance System Calibration Tool, Launch X431 ADAS PRO, was first produced by LAUNCH and can be utilised with Launch diagnostic tools. It was created to calibrate the vehicle’s ADAS camera and radar sensors.

It primarily comprises of a calibration frame, two wheel clamps (x2), a calibration panel, a radar reflector, and other components that centre the calibration vehicle and calibration panel. It applies to circumstances where a sensor or radar vehicle has been removed, replaced, or repaired.

It can resolve ADAS re-calibration by satisfying the needs of the users. The LAUNCH X431 ADAS PRO is the company’s newest automobile ADAS camera and radar calibration device.

You may easily calibrate camera- and radar-based ADAS systems using the LAUNCH professional diagnosis tools. The ADAS Software from the LAUNCH diagnostic equipment helps the operator to correctly place the camera calibration panels and the radar reflector panel, ensuring that the system calibration is completed fast and precisely.

It’s also appropriate for vehicle body shops, glass shops, and professional workshops to provide professional re-calibration for the ADAS camera and radar when the sensors are removed, replaced, or fixed.

A vision-based ADAS system called Mobileye 8 Connect was created by Mobileye, an Intel business. By providing early warning of probable crashes, lane deviations, and other hazards, it is intended to improve driver safety and avoid accidents.

To detect and track items on the road, including as other cars, pedestrians, and cyclists, the system combines cameras, sensors, and machine learning algorithms. If it notices a probable collision or if the car is drifting out of its lane, it can provide the driver visual and aural warnings.

A speed limit indicator, headway monitoring and warning, and traffic sign recognition are further capabilities of Mobileye 8 Connect. For fleet management and other applications, the system may also produce in-depth data and analytics regarding the actions of drivers and potential threats.

From passenger cars to commercial trucks and buses, Mobileye 8 Connect is made to be installed in a variety of vehicles. It is now a standard feature on many new automobiles thanks to its adoption by several significant automakers.

An ADAS technology that is included in a number of Audi vehicles is the Pre Sense system. It has a number of systems that are intended to help drivers avoid collisions or lessen their severity, like adaptive cruise control, which keeps a safe distance from the car in front and can even fully stop the car in congested areas.

The Pre Sense system also has automatic emergency braking, which can apply the brakes automatically to prevent collisions or lessen their severity, and a lane departure warning system, which informs drivers if they inadvertently drift out of their lane.

Other components of the Audi Pre Sense system, such blind spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, and a 360-degree video system, provide drivers more awareness of their surroundings and aid in accident prevention. A comprehensive ADAS system created to improve driver convenience and safety on the road is the Audi Pre Sense system.

The introduction of Ford’s new BlueCruise hands-free driving system was announced. On roadways that Ford has mapped, the system is intended to let drivers take their hands off the wheel and their feet off the pedals.

To assist with navigation and ensure a safe distance from other vehicles on the road, BlueCruise employs a combination of cameras and sensors. In order to make sure the driver is paying attention and prepared to take control of the car if necessary, the system also includes driver monitoring technology.

Ford’s larger plan to create and market cutting-edge driver assistance technology includes the introduction of BlueCruise. According to the corporation, it intends to make investments in electric and driverless vehicles with the end objective of having all of its passenger cars in North America fully furnished with cutting-edge driver support systems.

It’s vital to understand that BlueCruise does not fully autonomously drive the vehicle; rather, it is designed to allow hands-free driving on highways. The system is only accessible on select versions of Ford vehicles with particular hardware and software settings, so drivers must still be attentive and prepared to take control of the vehicle if necessary.
