    DP World launched a new air cargo logistics hub in the Dominican Republic’s Punta Cana.Partnership with Grupo Puntacana will expand the Dominican Republic as a key freight and logistics centre serving global markets.

     

    In order to strengthen the Dominican Republic’s position as the greatest commerce and logistics centre in the Caribbean, DP World and Grupo Puntacana have launched a cooperative endeavour to establish a new air cargo logistics hub in Punta Cana.

     

    A deal between DP World and the Punta Cana Free Trade Zone (PCFTZ), a subsidiary of Grupo Puntacana, is creating the new facility.

     

    A new logistics facility and infrastructure platforms enabling multimodal air, land, and marine freight will be part of it.

     

    Operations are anticipated to start.

     

    The logistics facility will take advantage of DP World’s vast experience in multimodal cargo management in the Dominican Republic, its world-class standards for managing logistics operations internationally, and the airport’s excellent access to major distribution hubs around the world.

     

    At its port complex on the Punta Caucedo peninsula, which is strategically located for the redistribution of goods to the Caribbean, the United States, Central America, and South America, DP World started operations in the Dominican Republic.

     

    The agreement will also represent the beginning of the implementation of a strong regional commerce strategy to draw more re-export and import cargo to and from important international commercial, industrial, technological, and agricultural markets.

     

    The initiative also seeks to increase investment in logistics services, spur development and diversification in the Dominican Republic’s economy, and raise demand for personnel in the industry.
