    In order to compete with the Engine Alliance GP7000, Rolls-Royce plc created the Trent 900, a high-powered engine, to power the Airbus A380.     The Trent 900 is a member of the Rolls-Royce Trent series and is an axial flow are high powered engine with three coaxial shafts. The 6-stage HP compressor and the 8-stage IP compressor are both powered by a single stage turbine, with the HP spool rotating anticlockwise to the other two.


    The 2.95 m  fan with sweeping blades is driven by a 5-stage LP turbine. It is the run by an EEC and has a single annular combustor. It has a certified thrust range of 334.29 to 374.09 kN.
