    Hydrocarbon resins come in a variety of forms, including hydrogenated resins, C5/C9 copolymer resins, C9 resins, and C5 resins. AlCl3 is the main catalyst used nowadays to create C5 Resins from aliphatic crackers like piperylene and isoprene.

    The NEVTAC LT hydrocarbon resin has been added to the C5 resin family by Neville Chemical Company. NEVTAC LT is a liquid aliphatic hydrocarbon tackifier with a low softening point.  


    This highly aliphatic liquid resin is intended to give elastomeric adhesives and sealants low temperature tackification and flexibility.


    The ring and ball softening point of NEVTAC LT is approximately 5 °C, and its rheological Tg is approximately -42.8 °C.


    When formed in a generic SIS polymer-based pressure sensitive adhesive, NEVTAC LT’s great compatibility with the rubber mid-block is shown by rheological analysis, with little to no compromise of the styrenic end-blocks.


    NEVTAC LT also improves the low temperature performance of self-adhering roofing materials and modified asphalt sealants.
