For many years, the auto industry has been moving toward electrification; it was only a matter of time until this trend spread to off-road vehicles.
To enhance tractors and tools, equipment producers throughout the world are experimenting with different electrical equipment. The agricultural sector thinks there are a few obstacles blocking the electrification of farm tractors.
The major issue is that, when compared to diesel fuel, Li-ion batteries and electric motors have lower pulling power and specific energy.
The Austria Electric Tractor Battery Market accounted for $XX Billion in 2021 and is anticipated to reach $XX Billion by 2026, registering a CAGR of XX% from 2022 to 2027.
With the acquisition of Austrian battery startup Kreisel Electric, John Deere has taken a step toward using more electric battery power in its machinery.
Deere has agreed to buy the bulk of the business that produces high-density, immersion-cooled electric batteries and the associated charging infrastructure, though financial details of the purchase have not been made public.
Currently, Kreisel has clients in the off-road, marine, and commercial vehicle industries. By offering high-performance batteries for motorsports, such as rally vehicles and speedboats, the business has also garnered some media attention.
According to Deere, battery power may be the principal power source for its grass equipment, small tractors, compact utility tractors, compact construction, and some road-building equipment. According to the company, hybrid-propulsion systems for off-road vehicles are becoming more and more popular.
The extensive range of Deere products may use Kreisel’s battery technology, and Deere will profit from Kreisel’s market expertise as it expands its line of battery-electric vehicles.
Deere will give Kreisel the knowledge, worldwide reach, and cash it needs to keep expanding quickly in its core markets. This is a chance to invest in a business that has cutting-edge technology created specifically for the challenging environments where Deere customers work.
With Kreisel’s charging technology, Deere will be able to “optimally combine vehicle and engine designs around high-density battery packs while constructing the infrastructure necessary for consumer acceptance.”
Additionally, the acquisition will assist Deere in developing equipment propulsion systems with zero emissions.
According to the firms, Kreisel Electric will maintain its identity, keep its employees, and carry on business from its current location in Austria.
