The cabin camera may detect driver inattention and issue sound notifications to remind you to maintain your eyes on the road while Autopilot is active. When the vehicle is put in reverse, the rearview camera activates and displays the image from behind the vehicle.
The rearview camera is equipped with either a fish-eye or a wide-angle lens. The rearview camera is incapable of viewing distant things.
The Global Automotive Cabin Camera market accounted for $XX Billion in 2022 and is anticipated to reach $XX Billion by 2030, registering a CAGR of XX% from 2023 to 2030.
GEO Semiconductor Launches RGB-IR Solution for Automotive Cabin Monitoring Systems.Camera Video Processor solution using STMicroelectronics VB1940 5MP Automotive Image Sensor for optimised RGB and IR video for CV applications.
This system combines the most recent 5MP RGB-IR image sensor from ST with the tried-and-true GW5 Camera Video Processor from GEO. The result is the industry’s only InCabin solution supporting both DMS and OMS applications with a single high-resolution camera while providing HDR on the colour frame.
It combines the VB1940’s special ability to offer both global and rolling shutter modes with the GW5’s ability to process both video formats on the fly. The end product offers the HDR detail necessary for in-cabin monitoring while enabling simple synchronisation with cabin illuminators in global shutter mode.
Rolling- and global-shutter pixel technologies are used in the ST VB1940 5MP RGB-IR image sensor to provide a combination of characteristics that handle the intricate problems of in-cabin video. Multiple-exposure HDR-RGB photos with a dynamic range of up to 100dB are possible when using the rolling shutter mode.
For flicker-free NIR (near infrared) video, the global-shutter mode delivers frame synchronisation with pulsed IR illumination sources.
GW5 is a tried-and-true automotive solution, and it was one of the first ISPs to support the VB1940’s hybrid-shutter modes. GEO is committed to offering quality solutions with design wins across the vehicle; adding ST’s VB1940 5MP RGB-IR to GW5 is critical to supporting new ideas in the in-cabin environment.
The VB1940 will also be supported by GEO’s future GW6 ISP, which will incorporate neural-network processing to provide a complete solution for In-Cabin monitoring and detection.
