This system combines the most recent 5MP RGB-IR image sensor from ST with the tried-and-true GW5 Camera Video Processor from GEO. The result is the industry’s only In Cabin solution supporting both DMS and OMS applications with a single high-resolution camera while providing HDR on the color frame.
It combines the VB1940’s special ability to offer both global and rolling shutter modes with the GW5’s ability to process both video formats on the fly. The end product offers the HDR detail necessary for in-cabin monitoring while enabling simple synchronization with cabin illuminators in global shutter mode.
Rolling- and global-shutter pixel technologies are used in the ST VB1940 5MP RGB-IR image sensor to provide a combination of characteristics that handle the intricate problems of in-cabin video. Multiple-exposure HDR-RGB photos with a dynamic range of up to 100dB are possible when using the rolling shutter mode.
For flicker-free NIR (near infrared) video, the global-shutter mode delivers frame synchronization with pulsed IR illumination sources.
