The result is the only InCabin solution in the industry that supports both DMS and OMS applications with a single high-resolution camera while providing HDR on the colour frame. It combines the VB1940’s special ability to offer both global and rolling shutter modes with the GW5’s ability to process both video formats on the fly.

     

     The end result provides the HDR detail necessary for in-cabin surveillance while enabling simple synchronisation with cabin illuminators in global shutter mode. For example, monitoring the driver, detecting occupants, and handling cabin video are just a few of the issues that frequently call for specialised sensors. The GW5 and ST’s VB1940 5MP RGB-IR image sensor combination produces a single-sensor solution that can cater to the requirements of various monitoring systems and deliver video that is acceptable for viewing. 

     

    In order to provide a combination of characteristics that answer the difficult issues of in-cabin video, the ST VB1940 5MP RGB-IR image sensor combines rolling- and global-shutter pixel technologies. HDR-RGB photos with a dynamic range of up to 100dB can be created using the rolling shutter mode. To produce NIR (near infrared) video without flicker, the global-shutter mode synchronises frames with pulsed IR light sources.
