    The MAX86178 triple-system vital signs from Analog Devices By simultaneously measuring four vital signs, the bioz analogue front-end (AFE) enables customers to streamline the design of wearable remote patient monitoring (RPM) devices.

     

    Electrocardiogram heart rate, blood oxygen saturation (SpO2), and respiration rate are four common vital signs that can be obtained by the single-chip AFE, which incorporates three measurement techniques (optical, ECG, and bioimpedance) (using BioZ).

     

    For derived health measures, it offers synchronized optical PPG and ECG timing.Health monitoring systems used in offices are being replaced with smaller, less powerful, wireless gadgets that can be worn covertly and continually at home or work.

     

    The AFE replaces discrete solutions by merging three clinical-grade subsystems into a single IC, including a biopotential and bioimpedance (BioZ) subsystem to monitor respiration rate and an optical PPG subsystem to detect heart rate and SpO2. It does this by cramming those various tasks into a 2.6 by 2.8 mm package, allowing for tiny vital signs devices.
