Lithium-ion batteries are one of the inventions that contributed to the emergence of electric vehicles during the past ten years. Most vehicles batteries used to be lead-acid and only needed a brief burst of power to start the motor before being recharged while the vehicle was moving by an on-board alternator.
They are frequently referred to as SLI batteries, however they were not optimal for discharging more than a small percentage of their power (starting, lighting, and ignition).
In contrast, lithium-ion batteries are made to manage an enormously higher energy density.Lithium-ion batteries are used in both your cell phone and laptop, and similar to how both devices’ technologies have improved over the past 20 years, lithium-ion batteries have boosted the possibility of using electricity in vehicles.
And it’s expected that these advancements will keep going.
It is unlikely that an EV’s battery will stop working totally, even if it will gradually lose its capacity to charge fully.

The first lithium-iron phosphate (LiFePO4) battery plant for electric vehicles has been launched by Chinese electric vehicle company BYD in Manaus, an Amazonian city in northwest Brazil.
Up to 1,000 batteries can be produced at the facility per year.
Electric vehicle power is ideally suited for LiFePO4 batteries. They are more durable and lighter than alternatives, and they offer the high discharge rates required for acceleration.
The size of the new Manaus facility enables the future creation of other manufacturing lines, possibly in collaboration with other businesses.
