The central vehicle controller manages communications throughout a vehicle, bridging the service world of software applications and cloud computing with the signal world understood by I/O devices.
The CVC can be a power and body controller, propulsion and chassis controller, data network router, gateway, firewall, zone master and data storage hub all rolled into one – or it can perform a mix of some of those functions.
More importantly, it is a key piece of the architecture that translates software code into physical action, from bits and bytes into mobility itself.
The CVC handles the details of communicating signals with hundreds of components in the vehicle and then can help abstract those functions as services to software applications.
It allows developers to spend less time worrying about how to handle communications within a vehicle and more time creating features that add real value for consumers.
Global central vehicle controller market accounted for $XX Billion in 2022 and is anticipated to reach $XX Billion by 2030, registering a CAGR of XX% from 2023 to 2030.
Sion solar electric car launch in 2023: Sono, Continental expand cooperation for ADAS.Munich-based Sono Motors unveiled an electric car that would be charged via solar power, confirming that the EV called Sion would enter production in 2023.
Technology company Continental is working with Sono Motors on the development of the Sion, which is to be produced in Finland in the second half of next year.
Continental Engineering Services (CES), the company’s in-house development service provider, has made available a portfolio of products and developments for Sono Motors.
Current series-validation vehicles, for instance, will be equipped with an advanced driver assistance system (ADAS) and will be provided with software for the torque management, climate control and the energy, charging and thermal management of the powertrain.
The Sion will get tech like a customised ADAS system, including a multifunction camera, long-range radar, and rear-view camera, a comfort control unit, software for the central control unit for the powertrain (vehicle control unit, VCU), software for climate control and thermal management of the electric motor, a passive start and entry system and a start/stop button.
