    A battery switching service for electric cars (EVs) named “EVOGO” was introduced by Contemporary Amperex Technology Co Ltd (CATL), a Chinese battery manufacturer. According to the business, users would be able to swap out their vehicle’s batteries in under a minute.

     

    In ten Chinese cities, CATL will first establish EV battery exchange stations. Drivers can exchange up to three depleted battery modules for fully charged ones with this service.

     

    The car must, however, have a standardized battery configuration that is compatible with the machinery that extracts the discharged modules from beneath the vehicle in order for the exchange to be finished in a matter of minutes.

     

    So the swappable battery from CATL is shaped like a chocolate bar. The “Choco-SEB (swapping electric block)” is how CATL refers to it.

     

    Up to 48 Choco-SEBs may be stored in a typical EVOGO battery swap station, which allows for one-minute changing for a single battery block and guarantees that customers never have to wait long for fully charged batteries. According to CATL, the design has the benefits of high energy density with a small footprint and a simple aesthetic.

     

    Dongfeng Motor has supplied 50 electric vehicles with solid-state batteries for demonstration in China, which may be considered to be somewhat of a first.

     

    A solid substance is used for the electrolyte between the anode and the cathode in solid-state batteries, which allows battery manufacturers to enhance energy density (and hence driving range) or decrease battery weight.

     

    The new DongFeng Aeolus E70 EVs make use of solid-state batteries created in collaboration with Ganfeng Lithium, which entered into a partnership with the state-owned automaker.

     

    Advanced flexible diaphragm technology is used by the Ganfeng solid-state batteries to prevent lithium dendrites while yet allowing lithium ions to move between the electrodes.
