This prevents physical disintegration of the catalyst during usage, extending the catalyst's useful life. It is common practice to subject the catalyst particles to a variety of chemical treatments that aid in sintering and increase the final strength of the particles. chemicals may additionally serve as lubricants in certain processes, like pelleting, which may come before sintering. The sintering acid in question is known to be glyceryl tristearate.
