Waste oil disposal firms reprocess used cooking oils. Used cooking oils that have been recycled and treated are utilised as raw materials in the manufacturing of biodiesel, hydrogenated vegetable oils (HVO), and technical greases. Beneficial to both the environment and the operator.
Cooking oil can be recycled in a variety of ways. Due of its BTU value, it is often used as a fuel in diesel engines. Biodiesel is typically produced through a chemical conversion process, although some businesses may ultra filter the oil for direct use as a fuel.
Oil and grease recycling guarantees that these waste products do not enter the environment, lowering the risk of hurting natural resources such as soil and water systems.

Through the RUCO programme in Ernakulam, 60,000 litres of waste cooking oil were transformed into bio-diesel. Over the last ten months, about 60,000 litres of used cooking oil were collected from hotels and restaurants in Ernakulam and sent for conversion into biodiesel as part of the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India's Repurpose Used Cooking Oil (RUCO) initiative (FSSAI).
From January to October, two aggregators authorised by the Food Safety Bureau gathered used cooking oil. The department made certain that the oil was transferred to be converted into biodiesel.
Because inspections found that used cooking oil was not being disposed of properly, the FSSAI developed RUCO to monitor its use. It was largely employed by small eateries and street sellers since the low cost of used oil allowed them to offer products at competitive prices.
The FSSAI stated that the creation of total polar compounds as a result of repeated frying was hazardous to one's health. It was also discovered that used cooking oil was dumped in an environmentally dangerous manner.
Authorities from the Food Safety department said they had received inquiries from organisations interested in joining the list of aggregators that had been approved. They also mentioned that a major oil business has expressed interest in collecting spent cooking oil for conversion into bio-diesel.
