GLOBAL CORDLESS  DRYWALL SANDER MARKET  SIZE AND FORECAST

The global cordless drywall sander market accounted for $XX Billion in 2023 and is anticipated to reach $XX Billion by 2030, registering a CAGR of XX% from 2024 to 2030.

    NEW PRODUCT LAUNCH

The debut of the first cordless drywall sander in the world is eagerly anticipated by Makita  Inc. Throughout the drywall finish processes of level 1 through 5, the 18V LXT Lithium-Ion Brushless Cordless 9″ Drywall Sander (XLS01) enables drywall professionals to sand across a variety of wall orientations.

It is a component of the whole line of cordless drywall solutions offered by Makita. By doing away with carbon brushes, a direct-drive BL Brushless Motor can operate cooler and more effectively for a longer lifespan. For better sanding performance and less maintenance, the motor is located at the sanding head.

The motor can run for up to 35 minutes on one 18V LXT 5.0 Ah battery while using 120 grit abrasive. When sanding vertical walls or ceilings, the highly flexible head swivels for improved maneuverability across varied wall orientations. An effortless flush-to-wall edge sanding process is made possible by the retractable dust brush and easy glide roller wheels.

The XLS01 is small and lightweight, weighing 10.7 lbs. Due to its small size, users can sand in small areas like closets. The handle extends 16-1/2″ for high walls and ceilings, and it has a telescoping construction that enables simple adjustments.

For high walls and ceilings, an optional extension handle support set (199937-7, available separately) extends the reach by 22-3/4″ and lightens the weight of the drywall sander to prevent operator fatigue. The sander can be moved around with little effort because of its two rubberized soft grip handles.

    RECENT DEVELOPMENT

Cordless Drywall Sander continues to be the most widely used material by contractors for interior walls. The next step is to tape and plaster the seams after the drywall sheets have been hung. The finishing of drywall typically requires sanding after each of the three layers of joint compound. This sanding was done manually for a long time using a pole sander.

It was time-consuming, dusty, and tedious, making it a major bottleneck in the finishing process. The long-reach electric drywall sander was the answer, with a flexible drive cable supplying power to the sanding disc from a universal motor. Even though the conventional drywall sander has proven to be a time saver on the market, it still has some issues.

Maintenance is associated with the following issues: The carbon brushes in the motor need to be replaced frequently because these sanders are frequently used for extended periods of time. The flexible drive cables’ propensity for early failure is yet another issue. If you try to solve this issue with the drive cable by mounting the motor directly on the sanding head, you end up with an imbalanced weight in the worst spot and no leverage to help you.

This brings us to the most difficult issue of all: weight. Fatigue becomes a real issue when the typical drywall sander weighs about 4 kg. Operators spend a lot of time lifting the machine above their shoulders, which wears them out and reduces their productivity. Therefore, when it comes to weight, every gram matters.

There are a few new cordless drywall sander models on the market that try to be different, but they don’t even come close. Being cordless does nothing to improve mobility or convenience because the sander is still tethered to the vacuum. Instead of addressing the shortcomings of the conventional corded drywall sander, they introduce new issues that are even more severe.

The cordless tool will need to recharge its battery packs on a regular basis because it requires long periods of continuous operation; consequently, endurance becomes a new issue that never existed before. Second, cordless motors have significantly less power than corded motors, so operators need more power to finish the job faster.

As a result, this application doesn’t work well with cordless, which can be useful in some situations. Worse still, the total operating weight is approximately 5 kg more now that the operator must carry the power source with the tool!

The rotary action SB9 is the best tool for this job because it fixes all of these problems and improves performance and usability even more. They have improved the motor’s efficiency and power-to-weight ratio by employing a corded high frequency brushless motor. This makes it possible for the motor to produce the same amount of power as before but in a much smaller package.

The motor is now so light that it can be mounted directly on the sanding head without being too heavy. This means that the flexible drive shaft is no longer necessary, which saves weight even more. Additionally, there are no replacement brushes because the motor is brushless.

Thus, they have eradicated the existing issues with maintenance that other sanders faced in a single operation. A wider range of input voltages can be tolerated because the electrical current first passes through a converter before reaching the motor. Thus, the tool can be used with a long extension cord without causing an actual voltage drop to the motor.
