Glass is currently employed in the construction industry as an insulating medium, structural component, exterior glazing material, and cladding material. It may also be used to create conventional windows and delicate-looking fenestrations on facades. Laminated glass is frequently used for walls and dividers in high security establishments, commercial establishments, and law enforcement vehicles.
While being clear, laminated glass improves safety for people driving, working, and living anywhere. The additional plastic layer, which can be coloured or clear, aids in soundproofing. Sand or quartz are heated to a high temperature to create transparent or translucent molten glass, which is the material used to make glass.
The molten glass is then shaped into a variety of shapes. Glass is utilized as a transparent glazing component in the building envelope when used as a construction material. This applies to internal and exterior dividers as well as windows. Sand is heated to produce glass, which is essentially a translucent material.
It is one of the most flexible building materials available and one of the most frequently used since it can be easily moulded into any shape. Sand, soda ash, and limestone are the three naturally occurring raw ingredients used to make glass.
These components are melted at extremely high temperatures to create glass. Glass has a structure that is comparable to that of liquids at high temperatures, but it behaves like a solid at room temperature.
The Egypt construction glass market accounted for $XX Billion in 2022 and is anticipated to reach $XX Billion by 2030, registering a CAGR of XX% from 2023 to 2030.
Egypt now has the largest flat construction glass manufacturing facility in the Middle East and Africa according to Saint-Gobain Egypt. This facility contributes to meeting the region's glass demand in the building sector with a daily production capacity of 900 tonnes of flat glass.
The facility is situated in Ain El Sokhna, which is 750,000 square meters in size and 120 kilometers east of Cairo and 40 kilometers south of Suez along the Red Sea coast. This flat glass production line was built by Saint-Gobain in Ain El Sokhna as an entry into the Egyptian glass manufacturing sector.
Additionally, the site served as the company's manufacturing division. Saint-Gobain has started building its newest manufacturing facilities, which include two facilities for producing flat glass, gypsum and sustainable building materials. This builds on the company's success in the area.
