    The first all-electric ready-mix concrete mixer truck from Volvo Trucks has been delivered. The Volvo FMX Electric is delivered to Cemex, a producer of building supplies, who utilises it in a ready-mix concrete facility in Berlin-Spandau.

     

    Based on a Volvo FMX EV, the vehicle that has just been delivered is the result of a deal that Volvo and Cemex reached. At the time, Cemex did not identify any specific vehicle orders, only that it aimed to “build the first zero-emission fleet.

     

    Volvo employs four battery packs with a combined energy content of 360 kWh for the electric concrete mixer. Depending on the application, this should be adequate for a full day’s work or it can be supplemented by charging during regular breaks, according to Volvo.

     

    Two engines with a combined output of 330 kW are used to power the vehicle. The high-voltage batteries in the vehicle are also used to power the nine cubic metres concrete mixer truck.
