Emamectin is the 4”-deoxy-4”-methylamino derivative of abamectin, a 16-membered macrocyclic lactone produced by the fermentation of the soil actinomycete Streptomyces avermitilis.
It is generally prepared as the salt with benzoic acid, emamectin benzoate, which is a white or faintly yellow powder. Emamectin benzoate is a new insecticide of Syngenta Crop Protection, with a new mechanism of action and a strong activity against Lepidoptera as well as with and a high selectivity on useful organisms. This molecule acts if swallowed and has some contact action.
Emamectin benzoate (Proclaim) is an avermectin class insecticide developed for the control of lepidopteron insects.Emamectin Benzoate 4.0% Tree Injection contains the active ingredient emamectin benzoate, which is a glycoside insecticide.
It is active against immature and adult stages of arthropods. The primary route of toxicity is through ingestion.Emamectin benzoate is not a systemic compound, but it exhibits translaminar activity. Insecticide-treated leaves maintain a res- ervoir of the active substance, resulting in long-term residual pest control through larval feeding (Ishaaya, Barazani and Horowith.
Global Emamectin benzoate market accounted for $XX Billion in 2022 and is anticipated to reach $XX Billion by 2030, registering a CAGR of XX% from 2023 to 2030.
James Hutton Limited set to launch new Emamectin Benzoate Analysis to Ultra Trace Levels.James Hutton Limited (JHL) are first time visitors at Aquaculture UK and are thrilled to be part of this year’s show.
JHL are the commercial subsidiary of the world-renowned James Hutton Institute. Their laboratory in Aberdeen specialises in a range of analytical services and their appearance at Aquaculture UK comes at a perfect time, as they’re in the latest stages of launching a brand-new service to help fish farmers with the upcoming changes to Maximum Acceptable Concentration (MAC).
These changes require analysis for Emamectin Benzoate (EMB) pesticide in marine water and sediments up to 1000 times lower than current levels. The active ingredient in SLICE Emamectin Benzoate is used to control sea lice – a major problem in aquaculture.
JHL are experienced in this sector and have been carrying out Emamectin Benzoate analysis to the detection limits previously required for more than 15 years. The organisation is now adapting its technology to meet the new legislative requirements using liquid chromatography triple quadrupole tandem mass spectrometry (LC-QqQ MS/MS).
The methodology is expected to be approved by SEPA and accredited by UKAS in the near future, the upcoming Aquaculture UK show in Aviemore is the perfect time to share with the industry on what they can do to help.
