    Eaton introduces a 3-in-1 EV battery pack vent valve. Eaton, a power management company, has introduced a 3-in-1 battery pack vent valve for EV batteries. The valve can perform three functions: battery case leak testing, as well as passive and active venting to provide battery pack overpressure relief.

     

    According to the company, the leak-check mechanism eliminates the need to install the vent valve as the final step of battery assembly, and leak testing is more thorough because it includes testing the sealing surface of the vent after the vent valve has been assembled.

     

    Eaton has also created a tool that enables manufacturers to activate the leak-check mechanism on their assembly lines, allowing for testing via pressurisation or vacuum. Its spring-based actuation allows it to meet a variety of opening pressure requirements with the same valve design, resulting in cost savings.

     

    The valve has a low-flow breathing mode that allows air to flow through porous material to normalise pressure during normal operation, and its resealing technology allows manufacturers to specify extremely low opening pressures. “Thei new battery vent valve can be assembled using either their strong quick-connect feature or a screwed metal-to-metal connection,”
