The Battery Impact Detection (BID) solution is a light-weight substitute for bulky underfloor "armouring" against damage, and it is another novel component of battery protection that Continental will introduce to the market.

 

Because an electric car has all the sensor requirements of a normal automobile, and more, it creates new use cases that expand the possibilities for the sensor operations.In electrified vehicles, for example, there are additional tasks such as battery protection and battery performance maintenance. 

 

Both objectives are met by the Current Sensor Module and Battery Impact Detection systems. The business claims that by reducing aging effects, the CSM will also aid in maintaining the battery specifications.

 

The two key pieces of information for battery protection and accurate driving range monitoring will be provided by the CSM, which can be included either in the battery disconnect unit or in the battery itself.
