    The exhaust gas thermocouples from the AMETEK Hybrid Series for Frame 7 and 9 applications have been designed, thoroughly tested, and certified to satisfy OEM requirements. In order to qualify and engine test this thermocouple as a straight replacement or for updating an older model exhaust gas thermocouple, AMETEK collaborated closely with the OEM turbine maker.

     

    The connection head of these OEM-qualified hybrid exhaust gas thermocouples is extended away from the radiation shield. This improves the yield strength and lifespan of this probe and lowers the mass and energy level caused by the excessive vibration that is felt at low loading settings. The right insertion length into the airstream is ensured by the Hybrid Thermocouple without the need for a seat inside the radiation shield.

     

    This thermocouple can be placed without difficulty and is no longer prone to tip fretting thanks to its fixed insertion length and thick oversheath. The benefits of the connectors, such as being able to reuse existing connection cables, can still be appreciated by extending the connectors away from the cutout and positioning them in a cooler place on top of the blanket.

    Both the affordable, quick-responding K-Type closed-tip thermocouple sensor and the robust closed-tip RTD-type high temperature sensor are available from AEM. The RTD-Type Temperature Sensor from AEM is brimming with attributes that ensure accurate measurement and durability.

     

    The tip of this AEM EGT Sensor is smaller for less intrusion and less restriction, and it has a closed-tip design that lasts longer than the perforated tip design of the previous generation. The wire is shielded by inconel tubing and finished with a premium 2-pin DTM connection.

     

    The sensor’s thin-film platinum element offers exceptional precision +/- 0.9% from 536 to 1,560 degrees F and a temperature reading range of -40 to 1,560 degrees F -40 to 850 degrees C. Our RTD-Type Sensor comes with a weld-in the sensor bung with machined M14x1.5 threads and a 90-degree bend at the sensor tip for simpler installation in confined spaces.

     

    The K-Type Thermocouple Sensor from AEM is made up of a closed-tip TC sensor with an Inconel sheath, 10′ of extension wire, a compression fitting with an NPT thread of 1/8″, and a ring and termination harness. 

     

    RECENT PRODUCT DEVELOPMENT AND INNOVATION

    The RaceGrade TC8 is a CAN-based device that reads and enables the connection of up to 8 thermocouple temperature sensors. The RG TC8 is typically used to detect exhaust gas temperature (EGT) and only functions with K-type thermocouples that are not amplified.
