With Niemi Services, Neste is testing out its first electric vehicle charging service in an effort to introduce it to Finland. In Finland, Neste is conducting a trial run of its first electric vehicle charging service.
With Niemi Services Ltd., the service will be tested at their location in Helsinki, Finland's Konala district. The pilot project assists Niemi, Finland's top moving and logistics company, in lowering its greenhouse gas emissions and supports Neste and Niemi's climate change initiatives.
In Finland, Neste plans to introduce a for-profit electric vehicle charging service. There are 163 vehicles in Niemi Services' fleet, 120 of which are powered by renewable fuel, 35 by biogas, and 8 by electricity.
With the help of the pilot project, Niemi is now able to daily charge a number of electric moving vans on-site utilizing 22 kW AC chargers and a 180 kW DC fast charger. The Neste smartphone app or the RFID tags, which are already familiar to EV drivers, are used to start a charging transaction. In Nestle's emissions reporting programme, emission reductions are confirmed.
Customers do not need to purchase chargers because Nestle's electric vehicle charging service includes chargers and related services. Plugit Finland Oy is Neste's joint venture partner for the pilot project in terms of electrical infrastructure and chargers.
