Distillations are fundamental to process control and product specifications. Distillation characteristics are used to determine product volatility and suitability for specific application.
Most petroleum products are a mixture of different compounds with different boiling points.
The distillation curve identifies those boiling points as well as the volume of liquid within each boiling range. Depending on the liquid being tested, distillations may be performed at either atmospheric or reduced pressure.
Laboratory distillations are fundamental to process control and product specifications. Distillation characteristics are used to determine product volatility and suitability for specific application.
The standard test methods require precise control of distillation conditions, including sample heating, temperature detection, distillation rate, condenser and receiver temperatures, and recovery volume measurement.
A liquid sample is boiled under prescribed conditions and the vapours condensate and collects in a graduated cylinder. Vapour temperature is recorded at specific recovery volumes. The distillation curve is calculated from this data.
The Global Fixed Automatic Distillation Analyzer Market accounted for $XX Billion in 2022 and is anticipated to reach $XX Billion by 2030, registering a CAGR of XX% from 2023 to 2030.
ICON’s Fixed automatic distillation analyzer – Icon’s Distillation analyser measures boiling points or ranges of petroleum production in the light to middle distillate ranges.
Distillation integrates operational and analytical innovations for repeatable, accurate and trusted analyser performance. With an extensive range of measurement temperatures, configurations, and sample inlet and outlet conditions, distillation minimises the need for additional sample handling components for a streamlined system design that produces a more reliable, repeatable measurement. Extended functionality includes the ability to program automatic decoke cycles.
Offering a standard measuring range of between 0-430°C, the Distillation analyser performs a small-scale distillation using 20 mL of sample under temperature controlled conditions.
With a rapid distillation time of between 10-15 minutes to FBP, depending on the sample properties and configuration, up to 128 new results are available every ten to twenty minutes for comprehensive process control.
Utilising the existing and proven laser level technology for precise distillation recovery monitoring, and a system designed to minimise or remove the need for regular maintenance, icon’s innovative approach addresses the problems with other systems.
