As the trend toward vehicle electrification develops, it is projected that the globally integrated drive module market for electric automobiles would expand (EVs).
An increase in the integration of automotive electronic hardware, the inclusion of several safety systems, such as ADAS, driver drowsiness monitoring systems, and vehicle crash warning systems, as well as an increase in the adoption of electric vehicles globally, are all contributing to the demand for integrated drive modules for electric vehicles (EVs).
By eliminating the need for additional vehicle components and expensive connecting cables, the Integrated Drive Module enables the integration of several electric components into the vehicle on a single platform, allowing manufacturers to reduce production costs.

BorgWarner’s Integrated Drive Module is aimed at EV manufacturers. In-house motor, power electronics, drivetrain, and software design capabilities at BorgWarner enable the company to provide completely optimized and highly integrated system solutions for a variety of applications.
The 200mm outer diameter hairpin motor HVH200 with an inner permanent magnet (IPM) rotor, which was created to address performance needs ranging from 80 to 150kW, is used in BorgWarner’s initial iDM system platform, the iDM200.
The creation of a brand-new iDM system for bigger, more powerful automotive applications came next.
When used in 400V systems, the iDM220 platform is designed for applications requiring 150 to 250kW of power, or up to 500kW in 800V form. A new HVH220 (220mm outer diameter) machine was created for this purpose.
In order to restore the current density to a desirable range and complement the novel oil cooling scheme of the iDM220, the new HVH220 concept appropriately sizes the conductors.
Due to this, the WLTC (World harmonized Light-duty vehicles Test Procedure) driving cycle saw an average power consumption decrease of 250W, a 22 per cent improvement.
