Because the lower gears provide the motor more mechanical advantage, a traction motor geared for freight usage with a low gear ratio will safely deliver higher torque at the wheels for a longer time at the same current level.
This technology is clean since there is no smoke, ash, etc., making it appropriate for underground trains. Additionally, the system offers excellent acceleration, retardation, and starting torque.
Urban locations can benefit from the great traffic holding capacity and operational flexibility of the straight electric traction system. Straight electric traction systems require very little time to start up. Additionally, it boasts a strong power-to-weight ratio.
The Germany EV Traction Motor Market accounted for $XX Billion in 2021 and is anticipated to reach $XX Billion by 2026, registering a CAGR of XX% from 2022 to 2027.
The new MD (medium duty) version from Voith Electrical Drive System (VEDS) expands its range of engines by providing the necessary inverter. The new 260 kW option is intended for single-axle buses and vehicles weighing up to 19 metric tons and is tailored for solely urban operation. It has a maximum torque of 2,850 Nm.
The new MD engine is 50 kg lighter than the current HD (heavy duty) variant, allowing for a longer range. The more potent 340 kW IPMS engine (HD) works well, especially in double-decker and articulated buses or vehicles over 26 metric tons, and is also appropriate for inter-urban driving profiles. It has a maximum torque of 3,100 Nm.
The foundation of the VEDS is a robust permanent magnet motor with a high-efficiency inverter that is water-cooled. Since there is no requirement for a separate transmission, the availability of power, energy usage, range, and noise emissions all improve.
The VEDS’s comprehensive methodology serves as the foundation for these advantages. Since the beginning, all system parts have been properly-suited to one another and cooperate.
From the hardware, like the electric motor, traction inverter, and high-voltage distributor, to the software, such the drive control and energy management systems, everything works well. This makes integration with the car easier and guarantees excellent dependability.
