In an automobile with an automatic transmission, a flexplate (or flex plate) is a metal disc that connects the output of an engine to the input of a torque converter. In a traditional manual transmission system, the flywheel is replaced with this device.
As rotating speeds change, the disk’s capacity to flex across its primary axis — bending side to side – allows it to take up motion in the torque converter. Due to the torque converter’s smooth coupling action and the lack of a clutch surface, flexplates are often significantly smaller and lighter than flywheels.
Flexplates, like flywheels, generally handle starter motor coupling via teeth cut along the plate’s outside edge. Despite the fact that this is a secondary function, these teeth give the flexplate a gear-like appearance.
The Global Automotive Flexplate Market accounted for $XX Billion in 2021 and is anticipated to reach $XX Billion by 2026, registering a CAGR of XX% from 2022 to 2027.
Automatic and Manual Transmission Shift, Detent, Accelerator, and Clutch Cables, as well as Automatic Transmission Flexplates and a Manual Flywheel, are among the 25 new numbers provided by Pioneer in the Powertrain area.
