In a typical grayscale vision sensor, the imager has thousands of photosites—light-sensitive regions arranged in a 640 x 480 grid.A picture pixel or element corresponds to each photosite.
Each photosite’s response to a particular color of light is limited by color sensors, which make use of the same imager but apply a special color filter.

The sensor is made of a luminescent concentrator polymer, which absorbs light at a particular wavelength and re emits it at a longer wavelength.
