Global Halogenated Resin Market 2024-2030

Last Updated:  Apr 25, 2025 | Study Period: 2024-2030

HALOGENATED RESIN MARKET

INTRODUCTION

By combining at least one silicone intermediate, an optional silane, an organic halogen-containing ingredient having functional groups chosen from the group consisting of hydroxy, amine, and carboxyl groups, and a resin chosen from the halogen-containing material used to impart flammability resistance to printed circuit boards and their prepregs as well as copper clad laminates, halogenated resin compositions are created without the use of halogen acids.

One-bromopropane (C3H7Br), methylene chloride (CH2Cl2), chloroform (CHCl3), tetrachloroethylene (C2Cl4), and carbon tetrachloride (CCl4) are typical examples of halogenated hydrocarbons.

HALOGENATED RESIN MARKET NEW PRODUCT LAUNCH

Clariant introduces flame retardants for epoxy resins without halogens The reactive phosphorus-based flame retardants Exolete EP 150 and EP 200, which are now available as samples, are said to offer excellent fire protection for epoxy thermosets and laminates at low dose levels.

They see exciting potential for the new, more efficient Exolete EP within the transportation and construction sectors, in addition to the E&E sector, and they have already started the up-scaling process for commercial production in line with this.

Clariant is committed to supporting the growing need for safe fire protection based on environmentally-compatible and sustainable solutions.

Due to the high phosphorus contents of the Exolete EP grades—25% and 29%, respectively—only a small amount of flame retardant is needed to provide the requisite level of fire protection. Exolete EP 150 and EP 200 flame retardants do not migrate out of the resin material; they bind with the polymer and ensure minimal impact on material properties.

Their performance is proven in electrical and electronics (E&E) applications, where UL 94 V0 fire ratings can be achieved at a loading of only 50% of conventional flame retardants. Because the flame retardant is included into the resin, processing and handling are also facilitated.

Due to its low viscosity, Exolete EP 150 works well as a flame retardant during infusion procedures. For large composite parts like those found in ships or airplanes, where the ability to flow evenly across a wide area without separating from the glass or carbon fiber is essential for good, long-term performance, the liquid format is very important.
