A versatile polymer substance used for completed goods wrapping is shrink film, often known as shrink wrap. The film is heated, either by an electric or gas heat gun or a conveyor heat tunnel, which causes it to shrink closely around the object inside.
These LDPEs are used to create films that shrink very well, unitize items into tight containers, and heat seal at low temperatures. But they don't downgauge as well as linear low density polyethylene, have a propensity to produce holes readily during the shrinking process, have relatively poor physical qualities (tensile strength, puncture resistance, and tear resistance), and are typically more expensive.
The Global heat shrinkable films market accounted for $XX Billion in 2023 and is anticipated to reach $XX Billion by 2030, registering a CAGR of XX% from 2024 to 2030.
Gunze recently launched a 30% recycled raw material heat-shrinkable film called "GEOPLAS HCT3" that is environmentally beneficial. The product is a multi-layered polystyrene/polyethylene terephthalate product that, using the mass balance approach, uses 30% chemically recycled raw materials.
The new product will first be introduced in Japan before being made available in the US and ASEAN countries. This is the first in a line of recyclable heat-shrinkable films that eliminate the need for raw ingredients produced from petroleum while concentrating on reaching international markets.
By using recycled raw materials for the hybrid shrinkable film, one of the primary products in the plastics industry, the company will intensify its efforts to achieve a sustainable economy. And one of the initiatives to cut back on the use of petroleum products and GHG emissions is the introduction of the new product.
Utilizing their special multilayer oriented film process, the final product is a multi-layered polystyrene/polyethylene terephthalate product. For PET bottled beverages, groceries, cosmetics, home & personal care, and other products, it is commonly utilized as shrink labels on a global scale.
The product has advantages that are shared by polystyrene and polyethylene terephthalate, including great shrink appearance, adaptability for perforation, heat resistance, content resistance, and rigidity. When a raw material with certain characteristics (such as chemical recycled raw material) is combined with a raw material without specific characteristics (such as petroleum-derived raw material) during processing and distribution from raw materials to products, this is known as the mass balancing strategy.
