A partial pressure measurement device is a leak detector. It gauges the partial pressure of helium in a vacuum pump’s gas input. The leak detector indicates the leak rate that it has converted from the helium partial pressure. The gas flow of the tracer gas through the leak is known as the leak rate.

Development of a technique for detecting canister gas leaks of helium. Spent fuel is inserted and weld-sealed in a cylindrical container known as a canister in the concrete cask storage system. Helium gas is contained within the canister, which must be kept in good condition and inspected while being stored.
The helium gas improves the removal of heat from used fuel. The effect of helium gas convection in the canister is diminished when helium gas leaks.
The surface temperature of the canister varies as a result. In the current experiments, it was discovered that the temperatures of the top and bottom centres on the canister’s surface alter noticeably when helium gas leaks.
The temperature differential was therefore designated as TBT. Additionally, the change in TBT can be used to find helium gas leaks. Even if the inlet air temperature decreases, TBT rises monotonically toward a constant value during helium gas leaks. By monitoring both TBT and inlet air temperature, the helium gas leak can be found in its early stages.
