A new paper-based, less expensive HexStack packaging system has been created by paper-based protective packaging maker Hexacomb for the transportation of larger liquid-filled bottles.
The new HexStack is said to have a single layer of Hexacomb custom-die cut honeycomb material to fit the particular bottle neck, which can reduce product damage during shipment.
As the closures and bottle necks are inserted into the die cuts, whose aperture rests on the shoulder by encircling the bottle neck, immobilizing the container, the pad is placed on top of a layer of bottles.For bottle designs with a concave base, the closure above the die-cut aperture can nest into the top of the container above it.
Larger liquid bottles can be piled three layers high for transit and retail display using the shrink wrapping technique, the business said.
