HIGH-MOBILITY ARTILLERY ROCKET SYSTEM MARKET NEW PRODUCT LAUNCH

The United States Army developed the light multiple rocket launcher known as the M142 HIMARS (M142 High Mobility Artillery Rocket System). It is installed on a typical FMTV truck frame.

Six GMLRS rockets or one ATACMS missile are both carried by one pod on the HIMARS. It is based on the FMTV five-ton truck used by the US Army and can fire every rocket listed in the Multiple Launch Rocket System Family of Munitions (MFOM).

While HIMARS ammo pods can be used with the M270 MLRS, there is only room for one rather than the two normal for the M270 and its variants.

The Airbus A400M Atlas and the Lockheed C-130 Hercules are both capable of carrying the launcher.

The FMTV’s original equipment manufacturer, BAE Systems Mobility & Protection Systems (formerly Armor Holdings Aerospace and Defense Group Tactical Vehicle Systems Division), first created the FMTV truck that carries the HIMARS.

Oshkosh Corporation produced it. In Camden, Arkansas, Lockheed Martin Missiles & Fire Control now manufactures the launcher system as well as the chassis.

The M142 High Mobility Artillery Rocket System (HIMARS) is a wheeled precision strike weapons system that is full-spectrum, combat-tested, all-weather, 24/7, lethal, and responsive.

HIMARS is a wheeled launcher that can be transported by a C-130 aircraft and is mounted on an organic/assigned 5-ton Family of Medium Tactical Vehicles XM1140A1 truck chassis.

The current HIMARS has an armoured cab with greater crew protection. HIMARS supports a force that is expeditionary, deadly, resilient, and tactically adaptable.

All rockets and missiles from the Multiple Launch Rocket System (MLRS) Family of Munitions will be launched. Six Guided MLRS (GMLRS)/MLRS rockets or one Army Tactical Missile System (ATACMS) missile can be carried in the HIMARS’ single launch pod.
