     Atena is currently working on developing the hydrogen Terminal Tractor for the H2PORTS project. It is anticipated that this Yard Tractor, which will be powered by a fuel cell provided by Ballard, will undergo real-world testing two years after its arrival at Valencia Terminal Europa (VTE), a Grimaldi Group facility in the Port of Valencia.


    They will rely on the CNH2-developed mobile hydrogen refueling station for refueling, which will guarantee the supply of fuel in suitable conditions for both this pilot and the fuel-cell-powered Reach Stacker that will be demonstrated at the MSCTV terminal.


    The fuel cell/battery hybrid powertrain of this Terminal Tractor enables the vehicle to carry out all of the demanding tasks required during roll-on/roll-off operations. Its hydrogen storage system consists of four Type 3 cylinders with an overall capacity of about 12 kg and a pressure of 350 bar.


    This system ensures that it will operate continuously for at least six hours before needing to be refueled, which is about the length of an average working shift. The electric motor is a lightweight and powerful device that is ideal for power-intensive applications.


    It is powered by a 70 kW Ballard fuel cell module and a 25 kWh high-performance LiFePO4 battery. Particularly, the electric motor can charge the battery while braking or decelerating or simultaneously receive power from the fuel cell and battery for traction.


    If necessary, the fuel cell can simultaneously power both the electric motor and the battery. Because it utilizes up to 15% of kinetic energy recovery, the hybrid powertrain exhibits high operational efficiency.
