A glow plug is a heating device that helps diesel engines start. Because the mass of the cylinder block and cylinder head absorbs the heat of compression, high-speed diesel engines can be difficult to start in cold weather (which relies on that heat).
Small electric heaters are used in the pre-chamber glow plugs in pre-chambered engines, while glow plugs are used in the combustion chamber in direct-injected engines.
A glow plug is a metal item in the shape of a pencil with a heating element at the tip. When this heating element is turned on, it heats up due to its electrical resistance and emits visible light, hence the title "glow"-plug. The appearance is comparable to that of a toaster.
During the injection of fuel at top dead center, the fuel injector spray pattern impinges directly on the hot tip of the glow plug. This allows the fuel to ignite even if the engine isn't hot enough to run normally. This cuts down on the time it takes to start a diesel engine.
TheIndia Automotive Glow Plugs Market accounted for $XX Billion in 2021 and is anticipated to reach $XX Billion by 2026, registering a CAGR of XX% from 2024 to 2024.
As the need for environmental preservation grows, so does the demand for stricter emission standards and low-emission automobiles around the world. Diesel vehicles are no exception to this trend, with automakers focusing on new technology development to fulfill increasingly rigorous emission requirements.
Glow plugs, which were once only used to help diesel engines start, are increasingly being recognised as an important component in lowering emissions and improving startability.
In this trend, NGK SPARK PLUGS (INDIA) PVT. LTD. offers a wide choice of high-quality glow plugs in the aftermarket that are compatible with emerging technologies.
SRM glow plugs are more advanced than regular and quick glow (QGS) glow plugs. Glow plugs with two coils are known as Self-Regulating Metal (SRM). The heat source is provided by the heating coil at the probe's tip, while the second (regulatory) coil allows for a rapid warm-up period to temperatures in excess of 900°C. It can sustain a high final temperature on its own after this temperature is attained, allowing for longer post-heating times.
