Any food that has undergone some sort of preparation-related modification is said to be processed. Freezing, dehydrating, canning, and aseptic processing are common food processing techniques.
The ingredients used in processing, such as excessive amounts of salt, sugar, or fats, are what give the meal its questionable image, not the preparation techniques.
Milk is one of many processed foods that are really beneficial to health. Breakfast cereals are processed as well, but they may be healthy if they contain whole grains that have been nutrient-fortified.
Processed foods that are good for health include seafood, frozen or canned fish, oats, dried fruits, whole grain bread, roasted seeds and nuts, and dried fruits.
The India Processed Food Market accounted for $XX Billion in 2023 and is anticipated to reach $XX Billion by 2030, registering a CAGR of XX% from 2024 to 2030.
A variety of millet products for various age groups have been launched by the Agricultural & Processed Food Products Export Development Authority (APEDA).
APEDA has introduced several millet products, all of which are patentable, gluten-free, and all-natural.
The newly introduced products include cream biscuits, salt biscuits, milk biscuits, jowar upma, ragi peanut butter, salt biscuits, pongal, and millet malts.
APEDA also introduced a range of "Millet in Minutes" products under the Ready-to-Eat (RTE) category, including Upma, Pongal, Khichadi, Noodles, Biryani, etc.
This represents an innovation in the food industry as it is the first RTE millet product to address the needs of a fast-paced world in a convenient and healthy manner.
Without the use of any additives, fillers, or preservatives, all RTE goods are vacuum processed. With a shelf life of 12 months at room temperature, the nutritional value is maintained as is.
Additionally, the APEDA is collaborating with the Department of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare to expand the production, productivity, and area under cultivation for millets such bajra, jowar, and ragi.
