The Iraqi Ministry of Transportation and Toyota Iraq have started a pilot programme to use hybrid electric vehicles (HEV) in government operations. The ministry received a Toyota Prius at a signing ceremony in Baghdad.
The first hybrid car, the Prius, was introduced in Iraq by Toyota Iraq, and at the beginning of November of this year, the brand-new Camry HEV model was unveiled.

The same procedures used for conventional automobiles are used for its routine maintenance. The Iraqi government may be able to reduce its reliance on oil and save money on fuel thanks to its low fuel use.
