Vehicles known as electric vehicles (EVs) can run entirely or partially on electricity. Because they have fewer moving parts to repair and consume little to no fossil fuels, electric vehicles are very economical to operate (petrol or diesel).
The Kiribati Electric Vehicle Market accounted for $XX Billion in 2021 and is anticipated to reach $XX Billion by 2030, registering a CAGR of XX% from 2022 to 2030.
PCREEE is assisting Kiribati's e-mobility growth. For each island, the Kiribati government sets its renewable energy targets (Kiribati Integrated Energy), which range from 23% to 100%.
Taking the lead in the development of e-mobility by selecting the suitable e-mobility technology for Kiribati, supported by proper laws and incentives, is one of its top priorities.
A webinar was held to encourage the growth of e-mobility in Kiribati by the Pacific Centre for Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency (PCREEE), the Ministry of Infrastructure and Sustainable Energy (MISE), and the Public Utilities Board (PUB).
The webinar's goal was to inform Kiribati's stakeholders about the development of e-mobility initiatives, policy instruments, and regulatory measures across the Pacific in order to support Kiribati's EV Bus project.
The webinar is a component of the technical support that the PCREEE provides to its member nations in accordance with its Sustainable Mobility Programme.
Additionally, the webinar shared technical and financial insights to help Kiribati's MISE and PUB make educated decisions on its E-bus initiative.
One of the first national interventions by the PCREEE in Kiribati was the webinar. The PCREEE anticipates similar partnerships in the fields of energy efficiency investments, renewable energy mini-grids, and sustainable company startups and mentoring.
