    Because the wavelength is substantially shorter, smaller antennas can be employed in compact communication devices that can be deployed in places where optical fiber is difficult to install, such as between buildings.

     

    Installations are also conceivable in regions where typical infrastructure is unavailable, such as disaster zones, poor countries, or rural areas, allowing wireless communications to be used in a variety of conditions.
