     A form of lead-acid battery known as a lead-calcium battery was developed as a means of improving the lead-acid battery concept.

    Compared to other battery types like lead-acid or lithium-ion, lead-calcium batteries have a greater starting cost. Lead-calcium batteries lose power more quickly than Antimonial lead alloy batteries because the positive plate corrodes more quickly in hotter under-hood conditions.

     

    Batteries made of lead-calcium have a lower voltage but a higher current. This means that if a short circuit occurs, it could result in a huge fire or explosion.
