A more reliable and sustainable energy supply that is clean and domestically sourced in Moldova could be attained through the growth of renewable energy (RE), particularly RE electricity.
The transportation industry in Moldova is in charge of producing greenhouse gas emissions. In Moldova, there are now around a million registered vehicles. The majority of the current automobiles are at least eleven years old (out of which half are twenty years old and more). The fleet of outdated vehicles worsens people’s health and increases air pollution.
With the first electric automobile ever (albeit not the last) in its fleet, UNDP Moldova is contributing to these figures. Electric cars have a lot of potential for lowering transportation-related greenhouse gas emissions, local air pollution, and oil consumption. The electric vehicles that are now registered in Moldova cut CO2 emissions by 500,000 kg annually.
Vehicles from Germany, Poland, the Czech Republic, Romania, and Russia are imported into Moldova. There is now a difference in registration taxes for new and old cars, but there is no difference in circulation taxes.
The Moldova Electric Vehicle Market Accounted for $XX Billion in 2021 and is anticipated to reach $XX Billion by 2030, registering a CAGR of XX% from 2022 to 2030.
The electric pod known as Zbee will be used for public transportation in Moldova.
The usage of Zbee by Moldova as part of its public transportation system demonstrates an inventive strategy in which the country believes that developing sustainable public transportation requires the adoption of novel vehicle types and business models.
A memorandum of understanding (MoU) was signed by Clean Motion and the Energy Efficiency Agency of the Republic of Moldova to launch a joint demonstration project. The goal of the project is to improve the existing public transportation in Chișinău, the capital of the Republic of Moldova, while reducing CO2 emissions through the implementation of a new form of transportation system.
The contract is predicated on Clean Motion being chosen as the electric vehicle supplier for the project, which will purchase 8 Zbee for use in public transit services.
The project’s primary goal is to build the country of Moldova’s first electric car infrastructure for public transportation. At the national level in the Republic of Moldova, the project will establish a number of pilot programmes.
The installation of public charging stations for electric vehicles with a monitoring system for power consumption management and the provision of public transportation services using electric pods make up the project’s main elements. The eight Zbee will travel throughout Chisinau in order to provide public transportation services.
