The process of making portland cement involves four steps: crushing and grinding the raw materials, combining them in the right amounts, burning the produced mixture in a kiln, and grinding the burned product, known as “clinker,” together with around 5% gypsum (to control the time of set of the cement).
The raw materials are ground wet and fed to the kiln as a slurry, ground dry and fed as a dry powder, or ground dry and then moistened to form nodules that are fed to the kiln. These three manufacturing processes are known as the wet, dry, and semidry processes.

In recent years, the Principality of Monaco has witnessed rapid growth. However, the Covid-19 epidemic has had a significant negative influence on the principality’s economy.
The short-term actions to assist both people and businesses in overcoming the crisis (CTTR payments) have clearly had an impact on the principality’s finances as a result of the epidemic. However, a rise in the VAT (especially on real estate) resulted in a rather significant rise in tax receipts.
