Growing various crops in a single field is known as multilayer farming. To do this, a crop is planted on top of another crop. After the first crop is harvested, the land is used to grow a second one. This is done to increase effectiveness and conserve land. It is a time-honored technique for farming that is intended to boost crop productivity and reduce plant competition.
In multi-layer farming, which is a sort of polyculture, various crops are grown in one location. Plants are typically grown at various heights, allowing one crop to grow on the ground and another to grow above it.
An agricultural technique used to maximize land usage and raise soil quality is called multi-layer farming. This method of farming's fundamental concept is to plant various crops in one field and then use the leftovers of each crop as fertilizer for another.
One could grow lettuce in their vegetable garden and tomatoes on a trellis above, for instance. When there is a short growth season, such as in the fall or winter when temperatures are colder and sunshine is scarce, multilayer farming models perform well.
The Global Multi-layer Farming market accounted for $XX Billion in 2021 and is anticipated to reach $XX Billion by 2030, registering a CAGR of XX% from 2022 to 2030.
Many efforts are being made around the nation to promote organic farming, mixed farming, and multi-layer farming. At Aadhya Organic Farm in Dostpur-Mangroli hamlet of Noida, farmers received a seven-day multilayer farming training from Akash Chaurasia, a specialist in organic agriculture and multilayer farming from Sagar, Madhya Pradesh.
Former MP RK Sinha was in charge of organising the program.during the seven-day program's concluding ceremony that multilayer farming will shield crops from harsh heat and cold as well as weeds and insects. The most important aspect is that farmers will continue to reap some financial rewards each month as a result of having five crops together.
