    The new engine, named GoForce 3D 4800, has Nvidia’s patent pending Foto pack technology in addition to a plethora of cutting-edge multimedia features.

     

    According to Manish Singh, director of marketing for wireless media products at Nvidia, the new technology can virtually increase the storage capacity for digital images.

     

     

    It uses a highly effective encoding technique while still creating JPEG files. Many people are discovering that their handsets are running out of space to save their megapixel photographs as more camera phones have multi megapixel digital photography capability.

     

    A JPEG hardware encoder integrated inside the GoForce CPU can record photos with a maximum resolution of 3 megapixels (2048 x 1536).

     

    Additionally, it has an internal hardware MPEG-4 codec that enables OEMs to add high-definition video functionality similar to that of a camcorder.

     

    According to Nvidia, the inbuilt codec supports MPEG-4 video at up to 30 frames per second in VGA quality.
